new floors and fresh paint

Because Jenna and Emily have asked me to show pics... here are a couple of the recent house project Aaron and I did. We have wanted to put in laminate wood flooring for years now. The carpet this house had when we bought it was old and worn. It desperately needed to be removed. After 4 years of owning the house and wishing for them we finally went for it. Although we did not install the wood floors ourselves... we did have our hands full with all of the painting before hand. All of our trim (crown molding, chair rail, and baseboards) and doors in our whole main level of our home were painted dark brown before. The brown trim color would not look good next to wood floors and I really wanted to paint it all cream... just like the upstairs of our home. Aaron resisted at first... he is always a little nervous to get into a project with me. He hates "project Jaimie". It's true that "project Jaimie" can be a little bit of a slave driver. Once I start a project there is no resting, no fun, until the project is totally done. I hate for things to be unfinished. That sort of thing drives me nuts. But I think I did really well this time and didn't get to nasty. Anyway, we painted all 5 doors, and all trim in one week. It took 3 coats to cover the brown paint from before. It was tons of time taping, and painting. We worked ourselved almost all day... and some of those days almost completely thru the night too to get it done before the floors were installed. We also painted the bathroom green too. It was crazy with the 3 boys at home. Easton would walk around touching everything white each day just to see which spots would be wet and leave white paint on his hand. He loves to drive his little cars on the window sills and he did that too when they were wet. Tons of touch ups were needed as Dallon or Dawson would walk thru a door just after I finished painting it and put their hands right in it. Truth be told... Aaron put his hand in a couple wet doors himself... arghhh! But all the work was worth it. We love it. And our home feels so much cleaner with new floors and fresh paint.

Wow - I have a lot of catching up to do on your blog. First, I love the one on Dallon with all of the pics and the comments and I am also so proud of him for how well he does in school. He is certainly one great kid. The picture of Dawson with no front teeth is also really cute. And finally your home does look amazing. You all have really worked hard. Aaron may have grumped, but I bet now he thinks it was worth it:)

Wow, I love it. You've given me some new ideas and courage to go for it. We've been wanting to put in laminate as well. Would you e-mail me and tell me what kind they are, please? I'd also like to see your bathroom. Thanks for showing.
