Spring Break

During spring break we had Mammy, Pappy, Stetson, Banner, and their friend Darian come to stay with us for a few days. We played miniature golf and had tons of fun. Marcie and I played the golf games of our lives. We were on fire! She had 3 hole in ones. I had 2 hole in ones. We totally rocked! Anyway, at the end of the game Aaron somehow ended up with the winning score. But we are pretty sure that Marcie just added the numbers up wrong... after all, Aaron didn't play that good! Ha Ha.

I think this shot was taken at the end of the game when Aaron admitted that he didn't think he took first either and was clearly admitting that he had indeed taken 2nd place! Ha Ha...
Dawson and Dad rocking the go carts!
Our boys made a fort and slept two nights of spring break in it.
We spent hours at Lifetime. The boys played basketball for hours, we swam, and rock climbed. This was the only picture I got at the gym though. Dawson was very proud... it was the highest he has ever climbed.
We ate dinner out at Genghis Grill.
Easton dumped out all of his cars on the floor with Pappy for play time.
Dawson loves Stetson so much. I came outside and they were seriously just cuddled up like this on the tramp relaxing.
The boys played hours of basketball each day both in our backyard and at the gym at Lifetime.

Easton was totally upset when they left... he was trying to get outside to go with.

Quote by Marjorie Pay Hinckley

"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautiful tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with grass stains on my shoes from mowing Sister Schenk's lawn. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbor's children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my nails from helping weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheek and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived. " — Marjorie Pay Hinckley

Fun times with Grandma, Aunt Melissa, and Cody.

We spent an afternoon at Guadelupe River State Park with Grandma, Melissa, and Cody. It was my favorite thing that we got to go and do with them while they were here staying with us. The weather was perfect. We had a picnic lunch, played football, talked, and skipped lots and lots of rocks across the river. It was just so fun to be outside enjoying the day together. Here are a ton of my favorite pictures from that day.

I feel so lucky to have a mother in law that is so excited to see us that she is jumping up and down as I pull up to the curb at the airport to pick her up. It just made my day to have her be so happy to be here!
Here are some random pics of the rest of the fun we had during their week stay at our home.
It was so fun to meet Cody and get to know him. He is the most loving little guy we've ever met. We miss all of his hugs and kisses already. Dallon and Dawson got to play lots of board games with both Grandma and Aunt Melissa and they loved that so much.
We went to Dave & Busters and gamed it up.

Aunt Melissa is a huge fan of rock band... and Grandma rocked out with the kids too. Gotta love that.
We celebrated Grandma's birthday with her while she was here. That was fun!
And these last 3 pictures make me laugh out loud. They were taken on the day they arrived. Easton did not even know what to think of Cody and had no idea why he was climbing all over him. It was a hoot! They were so funny together. There was lots of hitting, loving, sharing, and not sharing, hugging, sitting on each other, jealousy, did I say hitting? But that's what one and two year old's are all about right?

Easton became very attached to both Grandma and Aunt Melissa during their stay. He is very slow to warm up to people, and sometimes he never does. But that was not the case with them. He fell completely in love with the two of them. The morning that they left (5:30 am) the kids were in bed. When Easton woke up I didn't go get him out of his crib immediately. He yelled my name a few times "Mommy, Mommy". When I didn't go get him he started yelling for Aunt Melissa, "Missa, Missa" (as he would say). It was the cutest thing. I honestly teared up hearing him yell for her, realizing how attached he had become, and knowing that he had no idea that she had already left for Utah.

We miss you all. We are so glad you could come and stay.

pants on the ground...

**This video needs to be watched with sound - you will need to silence the music at the bottom of our blog to hear the video. Without the music on the video it will not make sense. **

When Grandma, Aunt Melissa and Cody were here we were all just hanging out listening to music, and letting the kids entertain us with their dancing. Then Aaron got up, pulled Easton's pants down... we were all like what??? why did you do that? And that is where the video clip begins...
We laughed so hard. It was totally hilarious. It might be one of those things where "you had to be there" but I know that Aunt Melissa and Grandma will get a kick out of seeing this.

random

Up to this point, Dawson has never been a big saver. He spends his money as fast as he gets it. He has been sweet to help with a small amount of chores over the past couple years - but hasn't been able to work for a longer period of time to earn money. Over the past couple months he has asked to work for money several times. One day he worked a whole hour. And other days he worked 30 min. I was very impressed. I know that for his age that is a long time. He has saved his money instead of spending it a dollar at a time. And he was able to buy Chick's Hauler (off of the movie Cars) with the money he saved. $23.00 That was a lot of work to save up for it and I really am so proud of him. He was proud of himself too and is very excited about his new toy. (The other new cars in the pic were bought for him from Aunt Melissa, so sweet of her.)
Another sweet note slipped under my door from Dawson... my little sweetheart! He always knows how to make me feel special.
Easton is so enjoyable. He has stopped getting into everything which is really nice for me. He loves to be outside and play in the backyard. He plays toys and entertains himself all day. He is really into cars these days. He plays with them hours on end. He is happy and content. He is talking a lot. He brings us more joy than we ever imagined.

We went and saw The Lightning Thief after reading the book together. I had so much fun with Dallon discussing the movie and how it was different and similar from the book. It makes me want to read more books before seeing movies. That is fun.
Dallon lost 5 teeth in 2 weeks. Poor guy. It's been very painful for him. He has another one loose. Crazy. The dentist says that it's not very often that a child will loose so many of his teeth at the same time. On the bright side... Dallon is making bank from the tooth fairy!
We just got done having Grandma, Aunt Melissa and cousin Cody come to stay. Check back soon to see pics from all of that fun. They will be posted soon.
