Our boys have been dying to get a pet. Dawson has wanted a cat, and Dallon has wanted a dog... but most of all, they both just want a pet. When Aaron said they could get a kitten this summer Dallon quickly jumped on board. They got so excited about it. They would ask me everyday when we were going to get their new kitty. The day came and we jumped in the car one afternoon and went to choose a kitten. It was just me and the boys because Aaron was working. When Dallon and Dawson saw the two kittens they had to choose from they both fell in love with different ones. (I guess I didn't think this thru... never did I think about the possibility that they wouldn't love the same cat and what I would do in that situation). Dawson immediately knew that his kitten was the one for him. The man who gave it to us said that it was "adventurous and playful" and Dawson thought that sounded just like what he was looking for. The other kitten was described as "cuddly and mellow... really laid back" and Dallon was in love with that one. One was skinny, the other chubby. Both darling. I have to admit I was in love with the chubby, mellow one just like Dallon. Dallon had been watching the two kittens play together so cute and knew that they were brothers. He had said, "I don't want to take one away from his brother. They should stay together". I honestly don't think he ever dreamed we could get both... but Dallon is just a really softy that way. And there is Dawson. There was no swaying Dawson's decision. I tried, believe me. I said things like... "but he is really skinny" and Dawson said, "mom, he is a fitness cat!" He was not leaving without the one he loved. He was sure it was meant to be his. Since Dawson has been dreaming of a cat for a year now. And when asked what his dream pet was months ago, his answer was a cat. I couldn't not let him get the one he wanted right? So... me being the softy that I am we brought them both home. Thank goodness they didn't have 3 cats left to give... ha ha! On the drive home Dawson said, "I'm never gonna be bored again... now that I have a cat!"
Both the boys named their own cats before we even made it back home. Dallon named his Oreo. Dawson named his Spots. They have enjoyed them so much this week. They have taken good care of them and are doing most of the work so far. Dawson has held his almost all day everyday. Easton is still figuring out how to act around the kittens. He chases them around and squeals and giggles too. He likes to have them chase a string. I think most of the time they are really scared of him because he is wild and crazy around them. Easton has been more work than the kittens. He's been busted digging thru kitty litter with his shovel, and dumping out water and kitten chow.
After being a cat owner for just a few days Dawson said the following: "I think I was born into the wrong family. I think I should have been born to Grandma Francke. Because I am addicted to cats!"

I just love hearing all about the family. the boys are so cute and I hope they enjoy the cats even after they arn't kittens anymore. I know we've really loved having Bellla even if she is a fraidy cat. She'll have nothing to do with Cody but she still lays with us for a while at night.
I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU BOUGHT 2 CATS THIS WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Belle will die when I tell her! They are so cute as tiny kittens and I wish, for your sake, they would stay tiny! I am going to have to forward this post on to my sister Alee too who loves cats. Her kitty just turned a year old last month and we had to send her a birthday gift!
Oh my goodness! Madi keeps asking for a cat or a fish or some kind of pet. We might break down and get her a fish since she is allergic to cats and dogs.
I love it that Dallon didn't want to split up the two brothers! How cute is that! Good job Jaimie! You've taught them well!
That is seriously on of the cutest stories I've heard in a while. It really brightened my morning. Moms never can be prepared for EVERYTHING and somehow children seem to know which things hadn't been thought through and then take advantage!! I'm glad you got both kittens. The boys will love them. btw: darling pictures!
Oh my. I just love this post. I laughed and laughed at Dawson's cute comments. The pictures are great. Aaron should be pleased because the kittens should remind him of his "Whiskers". Of course when I got cats for the kids they also each had to have their own. You just may wind up with three :)
So cute! I love the "fitness cat" comment. Audrey would die for a kitty too but most of us have cat allergies so she had to settle for a robotic one instead.
