Star Student letter

(The following letter was written for Dawson's teacher to read aloud to the class during his week of being the star student).

Dawson Joseph Haley has been a blessing to the Haley family since he was born on January 27th, 2003. He is the middle of three Haley boys. Although he is a lot like his older and younger brother, he is very special and unique.

One of the things that I like most about Dawson is how much he cares for other people; especially for his family members. He's always the first one to give a hug to his mom and I or to make special hand written cards or other special gifts to brighten our day. A couple of weeks ago when I had a big test, Dawson made a good luck card and along with a "go dad" heart that he put inside my car as a surprise. It was just what I needed to pass the big test!

Dawson is creative and talented when it comes to inventing things around the house to help out. A couple of days ago, he invented a new candy dispenser for the kitchen. He also made a new hat that holds cereal in the top in case you ever get hungry while wearing the hat.

He is also very smart and a great reader! When he started this year, he was just learning, but has worked very hard with the help of his teacher Ms. Jackson, and can now read several books a day. In fact he even reads to his little brother!

Dawson is also a very talented athlete. Anytime he tries out a new sport, he does very well with it. Right now he's playing baseball for the Astros at the YMCA. He's good at getting ground balls and a really good hitter. In his last game he had two hits and caught two ground balls. He's also played football and basketball and has been on the swim team. Last year Dawson tried BMX bike racing. At only six years old, he could go all the way around the big dirt track, including all of the jumps! And he could do it while going really fast! He did great his first year getting first, second and third place trophies.

He loves to spend time outside in our backyard; shooting hoops on our basketball court, jumping on the trampoline or kicking the soccer ball or throwing a baseball around with his brother Dallon.

Our house just wouldn't be the same without Dawson. He's a special person that is caring towards others and always making us laugh with his good sense of humor. He is a good example to his family on how to be a hard worker. I'm glad that Dawson has been in your class with you this year so that you can see how neat he is. Thank you for helping make this a special week for him as the "star student".

Aaron,
That letter is so great. You are such a great dad and you have done a great deal beter than your father. Way to go son.
